The SOYSA U17 Pinnacles girls team won the gold medal at this years Peach Classic soccer tournament held in Penticton and Summerland.
The weekend started with the Pinnacles winning 2-0 over the Spruce Grove Saints followed by a convincing 7-0 win over the Richmond Renegades on Saturday.
Sunday the girls played the Quesnel Strikers winning 3-0 and in the final game the team defeated another Richmond team 3-1 to win the Gold Medal.
The girls played great soccer all weekend with the keeper combination of Alida Weins and Kacia Erzinger giving up just one goal in 4 games.
The defense of Alana Parker(1 goal),Elissa Fordyce(1 goal),Jade Mishima,Alex Focken and Natasha Danenhower were amazing in shutting
down the other teams offenses.
The midfield players,Carly Stocker,Kristin Yates(2 goals),Kelsy Francisco,Kylaina Afonso(2 goals),Chelsey Beierle(3 goals) and Maneek Chahal controlled play both defensively and offensively.
The offense was dominant scoring 15 goals in the 4 games with Megan Levinsky leading the way with 4 goals and Samantha Murphy and Alison Lujan adding singles.
Co-captains Kylaina Afonso and Chelsey Beierle took over the second half in the final game setting up and scoring goals.
Congratulations to the girls from Coach Vic Levinsky, co-managers Launa Stocker and Dolly Abney and the moral support from injured player Jill Abney.
