Pinnacles league action

In TOYSL U14 Boys league play on Sunday, Skaha Meadows SOYSA Pinnacles defeated Kelowna United 2 by a score of 3 to 0 in a game played at Kings Park.

From the opening whistle, the Pinnacles took the attack to Kelowna United and opened the scoring about 4 minutes into the game when Josh Manning sent a through ball to Morgan Parker who then moved the ball forward to Joel Marte who sent his shot past the Kelowna keeper into the net. The Pinnacles continued to press the attack and apply pressure in the Kelowna end and James Taylor hit the bar with a shot from just inside the 18. The half ended with the SOYSA Pinnacles ahead 1 to 0.

The second half started much the same as the first half with the Pinnacles pressing the attack. James Gibson sent a ball through to Joel Marte who chipped it past the Kelowna keeper into the net for his second of the game. Shortly after that, Connor Schenkey after taking a pass from Brayden Hearne sent Joel Marte in alone on the Kelowna keeper and again he knocked the ball past the goalie and into the net.

The Pinnacles continued their relentless attack dominating most of the game with strong pressure and excellent marking shutting down the Kelowna attack. Quin Erzinger, the Pinnacle keeper, made an outstanding save late in the game to preserve the clean sheet. Again it was the Pinnacle back four of Gavin Hurd, Reid Noble-Hearle, Riley Brosseuk and Matt Bateman with another strong defensive performance. The Pinnacles continue undefeated in league play this season.

The Skaha Meadows SOYSA Pinnacles play an exhibition game this Tuesday evening at Kings Park and then see league action in Westside next Sunday against league leaders, Kelowna United 1.
