On February 3, 2009 Elysha Love Chernesky was placed into the loving arms of Jesus. Elysha brought enormous joy & love to her family & friends in the 13 years she spent with us. Elysha Love was a special gift to her parents, John and Joan Chernesky. She arrived on May 27, 1995. Elysha lived in Penticton, B.C. She spent her entire school years at Holy Cross School. She was currently enrolled in grade 8. In September Elysha began her courageous battle against cancer. Elysha loved sports. Soccer, karate and swimming were her favourites. Penticton was the perfect backdrop for Elysha’s life, as she could always be found at the beach, the channel or shopping. Elysha was granted the vacation of her dreams through the Make a Wish Foundation. It was no surprise that she chose to travel to Paradise Island in the Bahamas. The highlight of her life was swimming with the dolphins at the Atlantis Resort. As an only child Elysha shared a special bond with her parents. She was adored by her large extended family as well. Elysha is survived by her parents John and Joan Chernesky, her aunts and uncles Veronica, Bill & Leah, Terry & Karen, Bruce & Carla and cousins Marcos & Tracey, Carlos, Christina, Christopher, Brandy, Tessa, Kolton, Luke, Kalina, Summer and Jude. She will also be dearly missed by many close family and friends. The family would like to express sincere thanks to the extraordinary staff of Canuck Place for their support and special care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canuck Place in Elysha’s memory.
